I read a story today on the NPR website about how to shop for a psychotherapist. The article noted the current emphasis on evidence-based psychotherapy, as well as the importance and therapeutic value of genuine human connection.
So who decides what "evidence" is legit?
The work of Dr. Antonio Damasio highlights the FEELING of what matters as being equally, if not more important as the data we gather for everyday decisions. After all, we trust in the existence of LOVE even without so-called scientific evidence.
Science and love can be partners for healing, not adversaries.
Do you trust your feelings as much as you trust intellectual knowledge and scientific information? What would it feel like to trust your emotional intelligence?
