"Oh take this longing from my tongue,
whatever useless things these hands have done.
Let me see your beauty broken down
like you would do for one you love."
–lyrics from "Take this Longing," by Leonard Cohen
Definition of LONGING: a yearning desire
Deeper than a want or a wish, more powerful than a craving, the experience of longing is bigger than all of that.
"My goal is not the end of longing," says Connie Zweig in her book, The Holy Longing: The Hidden Power of Spiritual Yearning; "the holy longing itself is my guide." (p. 9)
What are you longing for? How do you experience that feeling? Where do you feel it in your body? What makes it holy?
