Close your Eyes and Trust It

Have you ever fed a lover with just your hands?

Close your eyes and trust it, just trust it

Have you ever thrown a fist full of glitter in the air?

Have you ever looked fear in the face

And said I just don't care

–lyrics from "Glitter in the Air" by Pink and Billy Mann

Hopefully you saw Pink's extraordinary performance of this song tonight on the Grammy Awards, literally flying high over the crowd, her voice like a prayer in the sky. (no doubt it will end up on YouTube soon)

I bet these fabulous drag queens would have a lot to say about what it means to look fear in the face and throw glitter in the air. Most of us have a personal story or two about closing our eyes and trusting despite our deepest fears.

Have you ever been touched so gently you had to cry?

Have you ever invited a stranger to come inside?

(more from "Glitter in the Air" lyrics)

Can you think of a time when you were invited to know another person more deeply, a stranger, friend or lover? Or when you were the one who extended that invitation to someone?

Go ahead, grab a fistful of glitter in your favorite color and give it a toss in the air.
