One Gummy Bear

IMG_0316

Occasionally I find random stray objects on the street while I'm out walking. The other day I spotted this nearly flourescent lemon-yellow gummy bear, sugar still clinging to it relentlessly despite the heat of the day. There wasn't a single other gummy bear around. My first response was, "oh, poor lonely gummy bear lost its way," but then I thought, maybe it jumped ship intentionally. Maybe it needed to free itself from the pressure to conform to the rest of the gummy bear clan.

Imaginative projection aside, I like the visual contrast of the surreal yellow color and texture of the gummy bear against the gray and brown speckled asphalt. The boundaries and edges are clear, unbroken, well defined.
