For almost ten years I’ve been writing regular book reviews for Presence: An International Journal of Spiritual Direction. Every few months, I receive a new book in the mail that sparks my curiosity and then I have the privilege of sharing my perspective on the book in the review. For example last spring I read and reviewed the book From Enemy to Friend by Rabbi Amy Eilberg, a longtime mentor and friend. This book inspired me with its interweaving of peacemaking, Jewish sacred texts, and spiritual practices.
Books have been a sanctuary for me as long as I can remember. Lately I’ve been enjoying audiobooks as well as print and e-books. It’s such a treat to hear a book and tap into that childhood memory of listening to bedtime stories read aloud.
