Savor, Meander and Wander

The pace of our world seems to be skyrocketing faster than we can possibly keep up. In the face of threat and uncertainty, it’s easy for our nervous systems to get hijacked by the racing chaos. And then we are exhausted.

Under these circumstances, it’s especially helpful to remember that we can often modulate the pace of our own bodies, minds and spirits by savoring, meandering and wandering without any imposed unnecessary urgency. I say unnecessary because sometimes for survival reasons we have to pick up and move quickly,

There is actually a “science of savoring” that can strengthen your social support, relationships and overall calm. I saw a recent story about this on National Public Radio and it reminded me to literally stop in my tracks, breathe, and savor the personal moment of safety and calm, however fleeting it might be. This is not spiritual bypass; it’s actually an excellent, no-cost way of caring for yourself..

Experiment with savoring, meandering, wandering and simply being.
