I’ll be teaching at Grand Rounds in September at Kaiser Permanente about the integration of spirituality and psychotherapy. I’m so glad that the mental health field is finally embracing a whole-person approach to wellness that incorporates mind, body and spirit.
Recent research about trauma and neurobiology have illuminated the brain and body’s extraordinary capacity for healing. We’re talking about hard data here! So much more is known and documented about the transformative effect that mindfulness meditation, somatic awareness, movement and creativity can have on wellness. Spirituality is not a “woo-woo” thing; it’s a powerful tool for reclaiming your life.
And I’m also starting a monthly spiritual guidance supervision group for spiritual directors who are working with individuals and/or leading groups and retreats. It’s amazing how nourishing it is to sit among your peers and share your experiences, challenges and triumphs.
