How many times have you noticed yourself, or someone else, holding their breath in stressful situations? Sometimes we do it unconsciously, despite the fact that regulating our breathing is completely free, requires little if any training, and can be done anywhere!
One of the easiest things people can do to keep our brains and bodies regulated is simply to breathe. It sounds almost too good to be true. Researchers recently found that focusing our attention on breathing improves the flow between the various areas of the brain. This practice over time can give you greater control, focus, calmness, and emotional regulation. You can do it by yourself or you can do it with other people.
